Via the Schlegeis alpine road

Reach the Zillertal from Salzburg, Munich or Vienna via the Inntal motorway (A12/A93), exit Zillertal, then along the B169 via Mayrhofen to Ginzling.

The 13.3 km Schlegeis alpine road starts at the alpine village of Ginzling at 1,000 m and climbs over eight hairpins and four natural-stone tunnels to the car parks at the reservoir at around 1,800 m. The single-lane section between the toll station Breitlahner and Spiegelschlag tunnel II is traffic-light controlled (max. 15 minutes' wait).

Access after 6:30 pm

After 6:30 pm the toll station is no longer staffed – access to the Dominikushütte remains possible. Please go to the traffic light and press the red button to activate it. After approx. 9 minutes it turns green.

Train & bus: From Jenbach station take the Zillertalbahn to Mayrhofen, then continue by bus to Schlegeis.
