Tours & experience

Starting point for the finest trails

The Schlegeis reservoir is the starting point for walks, mountain and glacier tours as well as demanding mountain-bike routes up to the Pfitscher Joch.

From the Dominikushütte through a beautiful pine forest to the Friesenberg Alm, then into the Lapenkar. The hut is already in sight – the path leads through the cirque in serpentines. The Friesenberghaus sits at 2,498 m (approx. 2 h).
Cross into the South-Tyrolean Pfitschertal. The climb through the Zamser Grund high valley to the Pfitscher-Joch-Haus (2,277 m) takes about 2½ hours from the reservoir. Path no. 524 passes the Eckalm to the border.
25.4 km, 1,210 m of ascent. From Mayrhofen into the Zemmgrund, on to Ginzling and via the Schlegeis alpine road up to the dam crest towards the Dominikushütte – with a sensational panorama over glacier and reservoir.
